Why we advocate for justice reform
We believe in changing the systems that perpetuate incarceration across communities of color and poverty. We actively participate in policy work and advocacy to reduce incarceration and build an equitable justice system.
Decarceration. We lend our voice to advocacy projects like Close Rikers, and partner with organizations like JLUSA to put New York on a path to decarceration and non-punitive measures such as alternative programming that heals our communities.
Restoring Rights. Whether it is through drafting and advocating for legislative reform, support for clemency, or assisting to change city and employment policies and practices, we lend our expertise in restoring the rights of directly impacted individuals.
Reducing Stigma. We educate employers and other institutions about the root causes of incarceration, such as untreated mental illness and substance use disorders to reduce the stigma justice-impacted people face.
